Royal Mail strike – going nowhere pretty fast

Hoping it would all be over within a few days, I didn’t really mind to get my mail a few days later than expected. But with the strike going on and with no solution in sight, I am getting more and more annoyed by the whole scenario. Continue reading

My mojo lies over the ocean, my mojo lies over the sea

In the past 6 months, I had about 20 hours completely to myself. 20 hours without responsibility for little L. 20 hours to switch off and think about what I wanted to do with my life. It might not sound … Continue reading

It’s daddy’s turn

Being a mum is a dirty business: Runny poos, stinky poos, small poos, big poos. We’ve seen it all, smelt it all and got over and done with it. So why is it, that our so called strong men make … Continue reading

Yummy Mammy for a day

Yummy Mammy is moving house. Stuck in boxes, bags and the usual chaos that comes with a move. Like: why is the van too small? And: where have all the boxes gone? Or: why on earth do I have so … Continue reading

The world’s easiest cupcake recipe

The loyal reader might be surprised to find a post like this on Met Mum’s blog – especially as I publicly admitted to be crap at all things housewifish. What I indeed do know is when to get my act together and pour all my energy into this one, oh so important event. Such as Big M’s birthday breakfast. Continue reading

I am a crap housewife

Since becoming a mother, my days have been filled with much more housewife stuff than they used to be. In my childless, naïve and slightly illusive mind, I had envisioned channelling all my energy into looking after the baby, the husband and our home, once I had left that high-profile but mundane city job behind me. Our spotlessly clean house would smell of freshly baked bread, baby food would be cooked by myself and every night there would be a healthy and delicious dinner awaiting Big M when he’d come home. HAHA. Continue reading

Mummy needs a break. Or: a day out in London

In the six months since little L’s birth, I have barely been separated from my precious baby girl. There have been about ten evenings where I nipped out for an hour or two, leaving Big M behind to keep a close eye on the baby monitor. An easy task, as little L usually doesn’t wake until the wee hours, once mummy has tucked her in and kissed her good night. Then there have been about six times she spent an hour in the gym crèche, guarded by the lovely Jane and her staff. But all of a sudden, little L decided not to like staying there anymore, and Met Mum had to be called to her rescue via the intercom. So there it went, my tiny bit of me-time. Continue reading
