How interesting to watch that one. Really makes you think, i’m sure this sort of thing happens all the time. If they did that to me I think I would feel very insecure. Just as well i’m not a model
Happy holidays to you all I cant wait to see the pictures xx
God it really shows just what they do. She was just a normal, pleasant looking girl to begin with. Isn’t it sad that young girls have such a distorted view of their image. Hopefully they’ll see this.
@Rosie: That reminded me of the perfectly beautiful and thin model that got airbrushed by some weirdo at Ralph Lauren – she ended up looking like those lollipop girls, a complete freak.
@Beth: Hi Beth, and thanks for stopping by!
@Zooarchaeologist: Wasn’t it you the other day who wanted to have a makeover?
@Erin: Hi Erin. I seem to forget that, too, skipping through magazines and feeling somewhat inadequate.
@TheMadHouse: I think it is great that they have really stuck to their guns.
@Alison: I’d be for banning airbrushing altogether. We have become so used to see perfect images, it’s rather scary.
@Iota: You are right, these spots are very well executed. Maybe that’s why the campaign works so well, too.
That’s a great ad – its incredible how our view of what is normal has become so distorted (btw how many mothers do you see in the public eye with a proper mummy tummy ?)
Could do with a bit of that myself.
Will be showing my daughter later just to prove that these models aren’t perfect.
Thanks for a great post.

Hi Beki,
I’d love a make over, too. And a little bit of airbrushing, et voila, here comes Met Top Mum
Alyssa Milano did a spoof of a Dove ad …as she becomes a ‘Jersey Shore’ girl http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FdsB56HFrtQ
Well it totally cracked me up…
holy crap that was a real eye opener!! I’ll think of that clip whenever i see a picture of a model! xx
these are always so interesting and kind of fascinating to watch! i LOVE your blog!!
@Emma: This is SO funny. You should come and sit with me in ‘my’ nail salon for an afternoon. There are lots of Jerseyans. (Jersyishs?)
@Amy: See, we ALL could be models. Now, where did I put those Hobb Nobbs? Lol
@Krystal: Thanks!!!
Wow! That was fascinating to watch. As they say, no wonder our perception of beauty is distorted. She looked lovely to start with.
I love that video but have to remind myself of it more often! xoxo

Ohh I hadn’t seen this yet, thanks so much for posting it. Even when you know all this happens, it’s something else seeing it from start to finish.
I love the dove way of thinking

Amazing.
I love the way they do it so that the girl’s eyes remain completely still.

I’m definitely showing my daughters this – thanks! No wonder we all feel such pressure …
Hi Deborah. I loved this post so followed it up with my own and linked back to you.

That is amazing! Sure makes me feel better when I look at my tired blotchy face in the mirror!
Hadn’t seen it. Why or why do magazines / ads do this? Another triumph for Dove and its real women.
That’s great.
