Malnourished Monday #13

Oops, he did it again. Chose a few healthy looking girls. Put them into too tight knitwear. Sent them down the catwalk. And made them look like sausages on the run.

There is nothing wrong with these girls. And I am sure they’d look great in something like this:

beyonce

But I don’t get Mark Fast’s point here. What does he want to say? ‘My designs look awful on someone with a fuller figure?’ Ill-fitting clothes make anybody look bad. And he didn’t do the girls any favour in letting them walk alongside girls like her:

On a more pleasant note: for the first time in ages (ever?), Prada has chosen a few models that did not look ill. I kid you not!

Aah, don’t we all love Doutzen Kroes? Looks like there is light at the end of the tunnel.

Thank you, Victoria, for pointing me into this direction.

  1. Exactly as you say, ill-fitting clothes make anyone look bad. What a shame they are using models with fuller figures (a positive move) yet ruining it by putting them in the wrong clothes. Are they doing this deliberately? Possibly, as it seems to happen all too often.

  2. Jen says:

LOVE the Prada dress – it’s especially nice to see it on a healthy looking person!

  3. Iota says:

Yes, what IS behind this? Trying to prove that you have to be stick thin to be a model? Trying to prove that it is easy to make normal women look bad? WHAT is the point?

I am my own worst enemy though. When I look at that photo of the Prada model, I can’t help thinking she looks a little plump. I despise myself for thinking that, and I LOVE the fact that they are using proper women instead of stick insects. I guess we’re so conditioned into what we think of as a “model figure” (both senses of the word) that it’s going to take a while to adjust.

  4. Carol says:

The prada dress and models are lovely.

  5. I don’t know why the girls would actually want to work for him as he is clearly making a mockery of them.

I love the idea of using real sized women but use real sized clothes for them.

  6. Alice says:

We were discussing this at work last week – Mr Fast seems to want to make these girls look awful! It was a ridiculous statement for hm to make.

  7. Totally agree with what you say about Mark Fast.

  8. Lady Mama says:

I know, really, what is the point of that? Obviously someone with a little more meat on their bones is not going to look good in skin tight lycra. But she’d look fabulous in something else. Yay for Prada though!

  9. Mwa says:

    That is so ridiculous!

  10. Amy says:

i would hate to have been squeezed into those clothes to make a point. What are they trying to achieve by doing this? xx

  11. Rose says:

I agree he’s not helping himself or anyone there- and I agree what is hit point, very few people look good in stocking dresses that are too small

They used that trick to make a quite small Renee look big in Bridget Jones didn’t they- and it really works- it’s really true wearing clothes that are too small makes you look big.

I never get bored of Malnourished Monday posts:) Welcome back MM! How was the sunshine? We had such a fantastic time, I’n suffering from withdrawal a little bit. Can’t wait for the Swiss lunch! x LZ

  13. What a cruel man, sticking those very gorgeous models in those too-tight clothes! Tag for you over at my place btw

  14. lulu labonne says:

I think the top one’s a robot – or on really interesting drugs.

    Love the Prada girl

  15. Or maybe he is just saying, it’s ok to love your lumps! After all, we all got ‘em!! Especially post-babies….

Although have to agree that the Beyonce frock looks a darn sight better than the clingy knitwear!

  16. Rachel says:

Sausages on the run haha!! Very true….

  17. emmak says:

Just heard that Joop says the awesome Heidi Klum is ‘too heavy to do runway and has too big a bust’ Now I have heard it all!!

  18. Patty says:

I agree with you completely! Bigger girls are beautiful too but seriously, put them in something that fits.

  19. Cindy says:

    Pretty girls in unattractive wrappings.
