The Pure Package founder Jenny Irvine entertaining the Pea

When I embarked on my superfoods charged delivered-to-my-doorstep diet a couple of weeks ago, little did I know that the owner of fabulous company The Pure Package is the friend of a (blog) friend. A swift introduction and a few emails later, and I found myself under the arches of the New Covent Garden Market, donning a blue net hat and a white frock, ready to find out what’s cooking.

Jenny Irvine, founder of The Pure Package, mother of three and general Superfoods Superwoman extraordinaire, let me in on all the secrets around her new venture, Balance Box. The biggest secret: there is no secret. Just fresh, healthy and yummy foods that are good for you, shopped, chopped and prepared for you, delivered to your doorstep.

Jenny prides herself on the freshness of her product. And with the largest produce market in the UK literally only a couple of steps away from her kitchen, it’s easy to see why. Jenny, who grew up on a self-sufficient farm in rural Ireland, started the company at her kitchen sink, 10 years ago. Ethical and free range from day one, she used to be the only one in the market; today her company is market leader with about 10,000 meals sent out per week.

What impressed me most was the genuine excitement that surrounds Jenny and her team. Everybody seemed so happy – and very healthy, too.

Jenny organised for a Balance Box to be sent to my home (thank you!!), and once again, I had the luxury to enjoy freshly prepared and healthy food without moving as much as my little finger. If you are looking to get back on the healthy eating wagon or lose a couple of pounds the sensible way, this is the perfect solution. Balance Box is available nationwide for £19.99 per day (1,200 calories/day option).

  5. please can I enter the competition? The book looks great and one of my current projects is to cook proper meals on the nights I am in- not that I eat awful stuff usually but I have a jacket potato or boiled eggs say if I’m tired and I’m trying to do a bit more even if I am tired- Monday night was seared tuna with pink grapefruit and ginger salad for example.

Anyway yes please- would love to get deliveries at some stage too- maybe in the Winter when I have more of a routine
