Travelling, Winter

I don’t want to go home

I love London. Don’t get me wrong, I really do. But sometimes, I ask myself why I ever exchanged this (see above) for the filth and grime that inevitably will expect us in the Big Smoke. Especially now, with two little girls in tow, the question Where To Live seems heavier and more prominent than ever. Hmmm. Watch this space…

  1. We say the words “move back” and “australia” more and more often as this winter drags on and the ratrace in the city exhausts…

  2. That is beautiful 🙂 It is question on my mind a lot at the moment too, although I don’t come from anywhere as beautiful as that!

  3. Wow. Gorgeous:) We reevaluate things over time, don’t we. That’s perfectly natural. 🙂

  4. But it’s nice to have the opportunity to live in one kind of place and visit all kinds of other places! I love living in the British countryside, but I also love visiting London. The perfect balance for me. I would miss London if I didn’t live near enough to visit often.

  5. I don’t blame you, look at that view!! I feel the same way sometimes. Big J and I both grew up in sunnier climes and pretty much every week have the moving abroad chat. The thing is, once you walk in through your front door and everything is unpacked and dust settled, you will probably be quite happy to be home. You’ll know in your gut if it’s right or not x

  6. Hmmm…hard decision. Beautiful view vs. grime, smoke, stress and rude people. Tough one;) Hope all’s well with the two little girls xx

  7. well it does look beautiful so I can understand. The sun is shining here though, for once!

we must brunch/ lunch soon xx

  8. I have the same thoughts about living in Chicago; fortunately my kids love it and wouldn’t want to live anywhere else.

  9. Be really very sure of what you are doing!! I miss the city more than I lead on… Living NOT in a city has it’s pros, for sure, the wide open spaces, the outdoors – but the lack of culture, shopping, things to do in general, it gets me down 🙁 Perhaps if where I live had more of a “community feel” to it, which it doesn’t, so just be very careful over WHERE you choose to live…

  10. Did you ever read My Berlin Kitchen by Luisa Weiss? – it is a lovely memoir with German food recipes about a woman who is torn between her identities as Italian, German and American and how she lives in various places and how the grass is always greener on the other side. It might resonate with you.

  11. PS The title should be IN the tune. You are tuned with yourself, with what is essential… 😉 You are so not Out of Tune, on the contrary… Bisous, E.

  12. My 9yo want to live in Stockholm because they don’t have so much homework…I’m beyond addicted to London life!
