One night in Paris

one night in Paris22Last weekend, I have been off to Paris for a girlie weekend. The first Mum & Me get away for Lil’ L since her baby sister was born. And the first time apart from Petite Pea for me.

So many things to do…

The weekend was much needed for many reasons. Celebrating my friend A’s 40th, of course, but also reconnecting with my daughter, having a little time to myself and handing over responsibility for the baby to my husband. There’s something very reassuring in the thought of knowing that he’s more than capable to care of our baby all by himself.

Being just the two of us again made me realise how much Lil L’s life has changed since the Pea emerged on the scene. She has been taking it hard in the beginning. But it looks as if all’s well now.

On top of the world

She has matured so much over the past couple of months. She even offered to babysit her sister so Big M and I can have a weekend in Paris, too.

Breakfast in bed

  • The Eiffel tower, of course. Reserve in advance and take the lift to the top. You’ll cue about 10 minutes as opposed to hours and hours without pre-booked tickets
  • Jardin des Tuileries and Louvre: take the bus 72 from the foot of the Eiffel tower alongside the Seine. Hop off at Pyramides/Jardin des Tuileries. Have a walk through the beautiful gardens that lead to the Louvre
  • Bateau Mouche: if you have got time, get one of the boats on the Seine. The views are just breath taking and a boat ride never goes amiss with the little ones

  1. Gorgeous photos and what a great idea to go just the two of you. It sound like you had a wonderful time x

  2. Aw what utterly beautiful pictures and what a fab girly weekend. You forget what a transition it is for our older children now babies are on the scene!
…My Mum and I would have girly trips to Paris yearly or more before kids and we keep saying we need to again (my wedding dress was from there so I have so many happy memories of fittings and fabulous food, galleries and of course shopping). My husband is part French although doesn’t speak a word but hoping the boys will learn! Simply beautiful post x

  3. this looks so fun! can I borrow L for a weekend 😉 or maybe I borrow you from her 😉

A much needed trip away! And fabulous weather too.
I meant to ask – any tips on conceiving the second child? I think you found it took longer than expected. J is 4 now and we still have no luck. Would appreciate any ideas!
Love your blog. Honest but stylish too. X

  5. Honest but stylish too – great way of summing up your blog.

I think L will make a great baby sitter. But wait a few years perhaps.

  6. What a lovely girl’s trip. Love the breakfast in bed photograph.
When Ruby and I hit San Francisco recently for a couple of nights, we had such a great time together. One-on-One with children makes it so special for them. I need to plan another.

  7. Aw it looks like you had a lovely time and such cute photos. I’d love to do a little trip with my oldest some time. It’s nice to get time with them back again.

  8. Beautiful. I will definitely do the same once Little Miss S is slightly older. We used to do this sort of thing with my mum (actually still do it now just not as often) and it’s the best for bonding and forming memories. We always stay in Saint Germain in Paris. Lovely place.

Wow, what a lovely thing to do with your biggest girl- she’ll remember things like this her whole life.
I love Paris- it’s where we got engaged and it means so much to us. Can’t wait to take my little man there someday xx

  10. Great post and pics! Especially the one where your daughter’s stood near the fountain. Looks like you had a great time! It’s made me want to go back to Paris now…
